Marvin Giordano
Age 85 of Wilmington and formerly of Coal City, passed away unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, October 24, 2015 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
Born September 25, 1930 in Coal City, Marvin Francis was a son of the late Bernard Joseph and Margaret A. (Bruno) Giordano. He was a graduate of Coal City High School and went on to attend classes at Joliet Junior College. Marvin worked for Peabody Coal Company and later retired from Commonwealth Edison, Dresden Station. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington and formerly Assumption of the BVM Church in Coal City, where he was active at both parishes in the choir. Marvin was also a former member of the Knights of Columbus. In his free time, aside from singing, Marvin enjoyed gardening, golfing and playing cards in years past; cooking and spending time on the computer.
Survivors include his loving and dear companion Margaret Godsey of Wilmington; three children: Stephen (Cindy) Giordano of Gardner and Jeanne (Michael) Warning and Rebecca Lincheski, both of Coal City; five grandchildren: Jacob (Anita) Giordano, Paul (Jessie) Giordano, Julia Giordano, Lauren Lincheski and Jessica Warning; three great grandchildren: Jacob, Caiden and Carter; his sister-in-law Doris Giordano of Coal City and three nieces: Lynn Salrin, Rachel (Mike) Czipo and Kathy (Tim) Gabehart.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law Robert Lincheski, Jr. and brother Bernard “Bernie” Giordano.
Per Marvin’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
The family will receive friends at St. Rose Catholic Church, 604 South Kankakee Street in Wilmington on Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Steve Bondi officiating.
Inurnment will be in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Wilmington.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Marvin’s memory to St. Rose Catholic Church, 603 South Main Street, Wilmington, Illinois 60481.
