Martha C. Hicks

Age 73 of Bloomington and formerly Wilmington, passed away peacefully Friday August 1, 2008 at Asta Health Care Center in Bloomington.

Born December 25, 1934 in Dora, Alabama, Martha was a daughter of the late Howard and Louise Griffith. She was employed for many years at Precision Coil as a supervisor and her memberships included: Island City Baptist Church and the Good Sams Travel Club. Martha was also a former member of the Wilmington Firebells and Pop Warner Moms Football Group. She was a Chicago Bears fan, possessed a wonderful sense of humor and deeply loved her children and family.

Survivors include her loving children: Lawrence Michael (Angela) and Norman Howard Hicks, both of Georgia and Debra Lynn (Roger) Vittitoe of Bloomington. Seven grandchildren: Nicole, Erin, Kristopher (Nancy), Jeremy, Larry, Lynn and Beth and (11) Great Grandchildren. Three sisters: Mary Elizabeth (Arthur) Patrie of Maine and Mildred Turner and Margaret Griffith, both of Custer Park. One brother: Will (Dorothy) Griffith of California; Sisters-in-law: Glenna and Vivian Harris, Nancy Haynie and Carol Scott and Brothers-in-law: Ron and David Hicks, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, husband Larry (1998) and sister-in-law Sarah Ward (2008).

Visitation will be held on Monday August 4, 2008 from 3-7PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street (two blocks North of Illinois Route 53 / Baltimore Street) in Wilmington. Funeral services will follow on Tuesday August 5th at 11AM in the funeral home with Rev. Ron Taylor officiating.

Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Martha's memory to a charity of the donor's choice.
