Marsha Elaine Dudek

(nee Dempsey)

Age 67 of Wilmington and formerly of Lockport, passed away Thursday February 15, 2018 at her home.

Born March 21, 1950 in Harrisburg, Illinois, Marsha was the daughter of Billy Ray and Della Rae (Beal) Dempsey. She was raised and educated in Lockport and most recently worked as a Lab Technician at St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, from where she retired from in 2010.

Marsha was a woman with a wicked sense of humor who enjoyed shopping at Wal-Mart. She had a love of hummingbirds, and took pleasure tending to her feeders and watching them from her window.

Family was of the utmost importance to Marsha, and she cherished time spent with her grandchildren. Marsha will forever be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her children: Brian Collins of Indiana and Angela Collins of Frankfort; eight grandchildren: Ashley Collins, Haley Collins, Samantha (Anthony) Valles, Koty Collins, Brittany Collins, Tiffany Collins, Cassidy Kroll and Caleb Kroll; (12) great grandchildren; two brothers: Steve Dempsey and Larry (Debbie) Dempsey of Wilmington, and nieces and nephews: Jennifer (Brad) Zuppa, Steve (Carrie) Dempsey, Larry (Candiss) Dempsey, Jr. and Harrell (Kelly) Townsend, as well as her lifelong friend, Debbie Smith of Plainfield.

Marsha was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ray; one son William Collins, Jr. and grandson Brian Collins, Jr. in infancy.

The family will receive friends at the Wilmington Church of the Nazarene, 303 S. Kankakee Street in Wilmington for a visitation on Tuesday February 20, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until time of funeral service 6:00 p.m. Pastor Bill Luttrell will officiate, and cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Marsha’s memory to The Hope House of St. Louis.
