Mark Alan Wharrie
Age 48 of Chicago and formerly Coal City, passed away unexpectedly Friday February 29, 2008 at his home.
Born August 23, 1959 in Joliet, Mark is a son of Charlotte Wendell-Wharrie of Coal City and the late Donald Wharrie. He was raised and educated in Coal City and was a graduate of Coal City High School with the Class of 1977. Mark attended the University of Illinois at Champaign and earned his Bachelors of Science in 1981. He was most recently employed by IBM Global Technology Services as a Senior Technical Services Professional and had previously worked for Rockwell International in Southern California for the Space Program. Mark formerly coached the Coal City Little League Farm Ball Yankees and in his free time was a Chicago Cub's Fan and enjoyed live music.
Survivors include his mother Charlotte Wharrie and maternal grandfather James Wendell, both of Coal City; one brother Steven (Rebecca) Wharrie of Frankfort; nieces and nephews: Nathan Wharrie, Megan Wharrie and Heyden Wharrie; aunts and uncles: Leon and Sandra Residori of Morris, Robert E. and Carolyn Wharrie of St. Petersburg, Florida, Bob and Shirley Ritzheimer of San Jose, California and Bill and Pat Wharrie of Coal City and his life long friend Brad Bueschel of Coal City, as well as numerous cousins.
Mark was preceded in death by his father Donald in 1981; maternal grandmother Gemma Muzzarelli - Wendell and paternal grandparents: Robert W. and Grace Bellm a�" Wharrie.
Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Thursday March 06, 2008 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow on Friday March 7th at 10:00AM in Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Mike Pennock officiating.
Burial will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Marks memory to his family for distribution to local charities of their choice.
