Marjorie J. Stroud
Age 78 of Wilmington, passed away suddenly Friday April 2, 2010 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
Born May 6, 1932 in Morris to the late Victor and Gladys Wrath-Lewis. She was employed by the Army Ammunition Procurement Corp as a secretary to the Commanding General and then as an employee of the U.S. Department of Education until her retirement after 56 years. Marjorie was a recipient of the 50 year distinguished service award in Washington D.C. by the Secretary of Education. She also attended Harvard University School of Computers for additional training. Marjorie greatly enjoyed garage sales, traveling and being with her family and late best friend Betty Bultsma.
Survived by her loving children; two sons: Gregory and Terry (Cindy) Stroud of Braidwood; one daughter Cindy Hidlebaugh of Pease, MN; six grandchildren: Jason (Mandy), Jordan, Taylor, Kyle, Ryan (Andrea) and Kelly; one great grandson Alexander and one brother William Lewis of Denver, CO.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Robert and former husband George Stroud.
A memorial will be held on Wednesday April 7, 2010 from 10AM until time of service 12 Noon at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 N. Joliet Street in Wilmington. Rev. H. Jae Lee from the 1st United Methodist Church in Wilmington will officiate.
Memorials to the Wilmington High School Foundation for Excellence in Marjorie's name greatly appreciated.
