Marjorie L. Kopczick

Age 85 of Morris, passed away Friday morning February 26, 2010 at Morris Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Marge was born in Morris, March 11, 1924, the daughter of the late Melvin and Cora Peterson. She married Raymond Kopczick June 21, 1942. They operated the P-K Market in Morris for 30 years.

For many years, Marge was a tireless advocate for the rights of persons with mental and physical disabilities. She was a former board member of the Illinois Valley Workshop and past president of the Parents Club. She visited the Grundy Home every day. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish. She enjoyed traveling and often visited Key West, Florida with her children, grandchildren and friends.

She is survived by her daughters: Margie Ray Kopczick of Morris; Elise Kopczick of Stamford, Connecticut and Melissa (H. Michael) Bates of Morris; five grandchildren: Lance (Julie) Peterson and John (Debra) Bates of Morris, Heather (Jerry) Miller of Carol Stream, Andrea Bates of Atlanta, Georgia and Casey (Erica) Ganz of Chicago; (6) great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marge was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter Anna Maria Ganz, and a granddaughter Stephanie Bates.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Monday March 1, 2010 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block East of Illinois Route 47) in Morris.

Funeral services will follow on Tuesday March 2nd at 10:00AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 514 East Jackson Street in Morris, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Revered Richard Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery and pallbearers will be: John Bates, Lance Peterson, Casey Ganz, Jerry Miller, Michael Bates and Scott Peterson.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Marge's memory to the Immaculate Conception School Endowment Fund or Illinois Valley Sheltered Workshop.
