“Granny”

Age 91 of the Coal City area passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Heritage Health in Dwight.

Born May 5, 1924 in Morris, Marion was a daughter of the late Peter and Mary Vota-Maland.  She was raised and educated in Eileen and Coal City, and on February 26, 1944 Marion married Clyde Knudtson at the Morris Presbyterian Church.  She enjoyed raising horses and German shepherds, gardening and playing cards.  Marion will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, and for being known to everyone that knew her as “Granny”.

Survivors include her daughter: Jacquie (William) Roth of Braceville; three grandchildren: Paul (Krystl) Nicoletti of Gardner, Donald (Margaret) Nicoletti of Channahon and Bobbi (Alan) Kingman of Essex; eleven great grandchildren: Brandan (Lynze), Jakob and Bethani Nicoletti, all of Gardner, Kaci Kingman of Essex, Marley, Hunter, Delanie and Haydon Nicoletti, all of Channahon, and Matt, Mike and David Kingman, all of Braidwood; eight great-great grandchildren: Bekka and Trevor Kingman of Coal City, Conner and Kendyl Kingman of Coal City, Trent and Lilyana Kingman of Tuscola, Braylyn Nicoletti of Gardner, and one great-great grandson expected in August; two sisters-in-law: Betty Maland of Coal City and Delores Maland of Morris; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clyde in 1996; one sister: Cecelia Rawlish; and five brothers: Peter, Arthur, Jack, Francis and Jim Maland.

Cremation rites have been accorded and private family services will be held.

Preferred memorials in may be made as gifts in Marion’s memory to the Will County Humane Society.
