Age 76 of Coal City, passed away Monday morning, March 30, 2009 at her home. Born March 31, 1932 in Jasper County, Illinois, Marilyn was a daughter of the late Edgar and Viola Steppe-Lustig. She was raised and educated in Dietrich, Illinois and was a graduate of Newton High School. Marilyn married Joseph Polakovic in Dietrich and they have lived in the Coal City area for the past 31 years. Joseph preceded Marilyn in death on September 28, 1997. Marilyn was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City and was known for her love of quilting, having made quilts for her family and many friends.

Survivors include three children: Barbara (Tony) Petrucci of Elwood, Philip (Cynthia) Polakovic of Plainfield and Richard (Jennifer) Polakovic of Coal City; eight grandchildren: Daniel (Sherry) and Adam Petrucci and Melissa, Kaitlyn, Lauryn, Cody, Jessica and Abigail Polakovic; two great grandchildren: Haley and Jenna Petrucci; three brothers: Gerald (Kathleen) Lustig, Brian (the late Marge) Lustig and Norbert (Josie) Lustig; two sisters: Jeanne (Jim) Collignon and Carol (Jim) Richardson; two sisters-in-law: Madonna Lustig and Norma Lustig and one brother-in-law Tom Clayton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joseph; two brothers: Wendell and Charlie Lustig and two sisters: Lillian Croft and Donna Clayton.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Wednesday April 1, 2009 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City.

Funeral services will follow on Thursday April 2nd at 11:00AM in Assumption Catholic Church, 245 South Kankakee Street in Coal City, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Rev. Jim Nowak officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Braidwood.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Marilyn's memory to Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, Illinois 60431.
