Age 80 of Coal City, passed away Sunday evening December 18, 2011 at Heritage Manor in Dwight.

Born October 31, 1931 in Geneva, Illinois, Marilyn was a daughter of Anker L. and Margaret C Bradley-Mattsen. She was raised and educated in Marseilles, was a 1949 graduate of Marseilles High School, and continued her education at Rayburn Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Ottawa. Marilyn worked as a nurse, most recently at St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet prior to gaining employment with the Grundy County Health Department, from where she retired in 1996. On December 12, 1959 Marilyn married Clarence C. Petko in Las Vegas, Nevada, and together they lived in Plainfield until moving to Morris. Clarence preceded Marilyn in death on January 14, 1981. On May 26, 1984, she then married her second husband Dale E. Monson in the 1st United Methodist Church in Morris, and Dale also preceded her. Marilyn volunteered at the Saint Vincent Table in Coal City and will most be remembered for the great love of her pets and most of all, her loving family.

Survivors include her daughter Amy (Stacey) Willis of Braidwood; two grandchildren: Brianna Michelle Willis and Lance Jeffrey Willis, both of Braidwood and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Clarence Petko; second husband Dale Monson and sister Dolores (Dave) Trumbo.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Thursday December 22, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until time of funeral service 7:00 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Reverend Andrea Boggs from the Braceville United Methodist Church will officiate.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Marilyn's memory to the Will County Humane Society, 24109 West Seil Road, Shorewood, Illinois 60404-6600.
