Marie M. Urban (nee Maibuecher)
Age 82 of Wilmington and formerly Homer Township, Romeoville and Texas, passed away Tuesday evening June 19, 2007 at Embassy Care Center in Wilmington.
Born March 25, 1925 in Chicago, Marie was a daughter of the late Adam and Mary (Hynes) Maibuecher. She was a graduate of Mercy High School in Chicago and on January 19, 1952 Marie married Charles J. Urban in St. George Catholic Church in Chicago. She was a former employee of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and Valley View School Dist. #365U. Marie was a devoted worker in Religious Education at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Romeoville, where she and her husband were part of the founding congregation. She served as an Election Judge was very active in political areas, especially "Right to Life" issues. Marie was named "Woman of the Year" for St. Andrew's Catholic Church (1970) and also "Woman of the Year" of the Will-Grundy Deanery (1970). After retirement in 1984 the Urbans moved to Texas and later returned to Illinois and Wilmington in 1995. After returning Marie became a member of the Wilmington VFW Auxilliary.
Survivors include her family: husband Charles; two sons: John (Jennifer) Urban of Wilmington and Jim (Anna Kasten) Urban of Champaign; one daughter Julie (Matt) Sunski of Florida; one brother John (Maura) Maibuecher of Huntley and seven grandchildren: Jesse, Joseph and Patrick Sunski, Joan and Sophia, Jonathan (J.T.) and Christopher Urban.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Joan Marie, sister Clara Carroll and one brother Adam J. Maibuecher, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2007 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street (two blocks North of Illinois Route 53 / Baltimore Street) in Wilmington.
Funeral services will follow on Friday June 22, 2007 at 10:00AM in Saint Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Rev. Steve Bondi and Deacon Don Dyer officiating.
Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Marie's memory to: St. Andrew Catholic Church, 505 Kingston Dr., Romeoville, IL 60446, St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington or to the Wilmington Lion's Club.
