Marguerite Byron Marshall
Age 95 of Wilmington, passed away Sunday May 6, 2007 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born March 23, 1912 in Chicago, Marguerite was a daughter of the late Charles E. and Mary D. (Dillon) Byron. She moved to a farm in Wesley Township, Ritchie, Illinois at the age of 12 and lived in Wesley Township and Wilmington for the remainder of her life. Marguerite was a graduate of Wilmington High School and Gallagher Business College of Kankakee. On October 9, 1938 Marguerite married Francis D. Marshall in Saint Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, and Francis preceded her in death on October 3, 1969. She worked as director of the Soldiers Widows Home in Wilmington for 9 years and the Joliet Arsenal for 4 years. Marguerite then retired from the First National Bank of Wilmington at the age of 65 after 19 years of service. She was a member of Saint Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington since the age of 12 and was active with the Saint Rose C.C.W. Marguerite volunteered at Kuzma Care Cottage for 14 years and was a charter member of the Wilmington Business Club. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America, member of the Will County Farm Bureau and a member of the Wilmington Senior Citizens Organization. In 2006 Marguerite was named "Woman of the Year" for the City of Wilmington.
Survivors include one son Charles F. (Sandra) Marshall and one daughter-in-law Jan (the late John) Marshall. Eight grandchildren and (14) Great Grandchildren. A sister-in-law Jeanette Naughton and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents; husband Francis, one son John, one grandson Joseph F. Marshall and two sisters: Catherine and Loretta Byron.
Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Tuesday May 8, 2007 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street (two blocks North of Illinois Route 53 / Baltimore Street) in Wilmington. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday May 9th at 9:30AM from the funeral home, proceeding to Saint Rose Catholic Church, where a 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Rev. Steve Bondi will officiate and burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington.
Pallbearers will be Chris Marshall, Colby Marshall, Henry Marshall, James Naughton, Sr., John Walsh and Jeff Treadman.
