Marge Wills
Age 83 and a lifetime resident of Coal City, passed away November 6, 2014 at Morris Hospital with loving family at her side.
Born September 11, 1931, Margaret Jean was a daughter of the late John B. Bertot, Sr. and Jennie (nee Benedetto) Bertot. She was a graduate of Coal City High School and on April 8, 1951, Margie married Kenneth Wills in Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City. She waitressed locally for several years; worked at Rohlfs Bakery in Coal City, and was most known as a cook at the Coal City Schools. Marge was an active member of Assumption Catholic Church, where she was involved with The Martha's and Saint Vincent's Table. In early years, Marge volunteered her time as a room mother and worked concessions. She was a former PTA officer and served as past president of the Coal City Little League. Margie was committed to her community and this was demonstrated through her work and volunteering with Meals on Wheels for the Grundy County Senior Citizens, assisting in the food pantry, and her time spent at the Coal City Clothes Closet. She regularly helped with the Octoberfest serving meals at the Berst Center and assisted at the immunization clinics for children. It was for these works and many others that Marge was honored as a past Coal City Community Service Award recipient, and served as Grand Marshal of the Octoberfest parade in 2004. When Margie was not volunteering she took pleasure in playing cards and baking, of which she was well known for her pie crusts and donuts. Marge was a true Coal City Coaler fan and will be remembered as a referee in the stands. Her family was very important to her and she was proud to follow her grandchildren in their school activities and sports.
Survivors include her three children: Douglas (Susan) Wills of Coal City, Linda (Jon) Siron of Morris and Janice (Jerry) Unger of Coal City; five grandchildren: Tracy (Chris) Carlson of Coal City, Allan (Jill) Wills of Joliet, Jennifer (Eric) Trevino of Morris and Casey (Janna) Siron and Jeremy Unger, both of Coal City; nine great grandchildren: Derek, Alex, Maggie, Brendon, Drew, Evan, Avari, Colton and Ashlyn; brothers and sisters-in-law: Elvin and Dorothy Wills, Leonard Wills, Esther Wills, Norman and JoAnn Wills, Paul and Emilie Wills and Martha Walker; numerous nieces and nephews, including her special niece Darlene Palmer and numerous cousins as well as her dear caretaker Cindy Depauw.
