Margaret E. "Pat" Phillips
Age 79 of Coal City, passed away Sunday morning, March 6, 2016 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
Born December 26, 1936 in Morris, Margaret Elaine was a daughter of the late Everett and Gertrude (Dearth) Matthews. She was raised and educated in Coal City and graduated from Coal City High School. Margaret was previously employed with the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant and later Mazon State Bank. She was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Coal City. Margaret enjoyed camping and cooking, however family was her first priority. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband Joseph T. Phillips; two daughters: Jill (Curly) Vaughn of Diamond and Jane (Jeff) Wills of Coal City; one son Joseph J. Phillips of Minooka; one daughter-in-law Debra Phillips of Lockport; nine grandchildren: Josh Eddy (Lindsay), Kyle Eddy (Samantha), Jennifer Vaughn, Ryan Vaughn (Missy), Andrew Phillips, Jason Profitt, Kailee Wills, Colton Wills and Tyler Griswold; (10) great grandchildren; one sister Marijayne (Jack) Baudino of Verona; sisters and brother-in-law: Phyllis Phillips and Karen (David) Togliatti, both of Coal City and numerous nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; son Jeff Phillips (2003); brother Nelson (Patt) Matthews, and brothers and sister-in-law: Jack Phillips, Janice (Joe) Bertoglio and Mike Phillips.
Visitation and video tribute will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block north of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow Thursday morning, March 10th at 10:00 a.m. in Assumption of the BVM Catholic Church, 245 South Kankakee Street in Coal City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Robert Noesen officiating.
Burial will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Pat's memory to the Assumption Building Fund, 195 S. Kankakee St., Coal City, IL 60416.
