Age 77 of Wilmington, passed away Saturday June 5, 2010 at Walnut Grove Village in Morris.

Born June 7, 1932 in Neoga, Illinois, Margaret was a daughter of the late Charles Williams and Frances (nee Askins). She was raised and educated in Shelbyville and worked for Johnson and Johnson Personal Products until her retirement. Margaret was a member of the Wilmington Moose Lodge, The Ladies Red Hat Society, and was known for her love of flowers and flower gardening. Margaret will be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother and she cherished the time spent with her family.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Freddie S. Read, whom she married July 2, 1950 in Shelbyville; two children: Freddie E. "Gene" (Bev) Read of Godley and Gary F. (Annamarie) Read of Diamond; four grandchildren: Rebecca (Juan) Duran of Godley, David Read of Braidwood and Nicole Read and Alisha Read, both of Diamond; seven great grandchildren: Richelle Read, Sabrina Duran, Selena Duran, Justin Read, Jadyn Read, Julian Read and Jayla Read and one sister-in-law Helen Lofland of Pana, Illinois, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Dean Lofland.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Tuesday June 8, 2010 from 4:00PM until time of funeral service 7:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street in Wilmington. Pastor Avery Wilson from Coal City Baptist Church will officiate and cremation rites will be accorded at the conclusion of the services.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Margaret's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 4619 North Ravenswood Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60640-4579 (www.StJude.org)
