Margaret O'Bert

Age 98 of Wilmington, Illinois passed away peacefully on Friday, August 11, 2023 at Sunny Hill Nursing Home in Joliet, Illinois.

Born October 14, 1924 in Chicago, Margaret Catherine was a daughter of Joseph Peter and Minnie Rose (Spese) Squellati. She was raised in Coal City where she attended Assumption grade school and went on to graduate from Coal City High School with the Class of 1942. On December 19, 1942, Margaret married Louis Arthur O’Bert and initially settled in Coal City before moving to Wilmington in 1964.

Margaret was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington and will be remembered for her dedicated years of babysitting, her enjoyment of cooking, baking and canning, and pass time of working puzzles.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Janet O’Bert of Loveland, Ohio; grandson, Dr. Robert (Holly) O’Bert, MD of Town and Country, Missouri; two great grandchildren: Austin and Audrey O’Bert, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2000, two brothers: her twin, William and Angelo Squellati.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at St. Rose Catholic Church, 604 S. Kankakee Street in Wilmington on Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral service 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be presided by Reverend Sebastian Gargol.

Entombment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Joliet, where Margaret will be laid to rest with her late husband.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Margaret’s memory to Kuzma Care Cottage, 635 S. Main Street in Wilmington, IL 60481.
