Margaret L. Anderson
Age 92 of Coal City, passed away Tuesday morning, November 10, 2009 at Heritage Manor in Dwight.
Born August 25, 1917 in Joliet, Illinois, Margaret was a daughter of the late Arthur and Florence Waggoner-Kelly. She was raised and educated in the Joliet, Ritchie, Wilmington & Braidwood area, and graduated from Reed Custer High School with the class of 1935. On February 3, 1937, Margaret married James Paul Anderson in St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, and together they lived their entire married life in Coal City. Margaret worked at Atlas Wallpaper Company, Joliet Arsenal (APSA) as a procurement clerk and also as a realtor. She enjoyed cooking, baking, taking care of others and playing cards, especially poker.
Survivors include her daughter: Pat (the late Richard) Planeta of Coal City; five grandchildren: Karyn (Tim O'Hara) of Seattle; Michael Planeta and David Planeta, both of Coal City; Amy (Chris) Barry of Minnesota; Cherie (Kevin) Berggren of Oklahoma and Katie Anderson of Chicago; nine great-grandchildren; one brother: Edward Kelly of Joliet; one sister Florence Kennedy of Braceville and special extended family: Tara Robinson and her children Austin and Alexis of Joliet and Suzanne Skole of Custer Park, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; spouse James Anderson in September 2003; son David James Anderson in September of 2009; three brothers: Donald, Robert, and Roy Kelly; four sisters: Jean Kelly, Hariett Marcotte, Florence Cushing and Leila Vilt; and one son-in-law: Richard Planeta.
Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Sunday November 15, 2009 between the hours of 3:00PM and 6:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City.
Funeral services will follow on Monday November 16th at 9:30AM in Assumuption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 245 South Kankakee Street in Coal City, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Revered Robert Noesen officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Margaret's memory to the Assumption Catholic Church Building Fund, St. Jude Children's Research or the Coal City Food Pantry.
