Marcus Henry Marketti
"Markie"
Age 93 of Coal City, passed away Monday June 28, 2010 at Heritage Manor in Dwight. Born June 26, 1917 in Joliet, Marcus was a son of the late Henry and Ida Facinelli-Marketti. He was raised and educated in Coal City, and graduated from Coal City High School. On June 17, 1939, Marcus married Ann Lardi in St. Lawrence Catholic Church in South Wilmington. All of their married life they lived together in Coal City. Marcus worked at the Joliet arsenal, owned and operated Marketti Plumbing and Heating for over 35 years and was plumbing inspector for the villages of Coal City and Diamond until the age of 87. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, member and former lector of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Coal City, charter member of the Coal City Area Club and former Commissioner and Mayor of Coal City. Marky can be remembered for his love of his family, fishing, bowling, gardening and his historical story telling.
Survivors include his two sons: Ron (Dianne) Marketti and Dean (Debbie) Marketti both of Coal City; grandchildren: Tony Marketti of Chicago, Gina (Mark) Williams of Tinley Park, Leo (Kelly) Marketti of Naperville, Molly (Tony) Donofrio of Westmont, Kailee Marketti of Coal City and Ryan Marketti (fiancAC. Kasha) of Aurora; great grandchildren: Daniel and Thomas Marketti and Charlotte Donofrio; sister: Bertha (Mack) McMillin of Coal City; and numerous nieces and nephews
Marcus was preceded in death by his parents, wife (Annie) and one sister Henrietta (Pat) Mallaney.
Visitation will be held on Saturday July 3, 2010 between the hours of 9:00am and 10:30am at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow at 11:00AM in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 245 South Kankakee Street in Coal City - where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Robert Noesen officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Braidwood.
Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Marky's memory to the Unit #1 Educational Foundation, Coal City Food Pantry or Grundy Community Volunteer Hospice.
