Marcella A. Keigher
Age 78 of Wilmington, passed away Monday March 31, 2014 at Silver Cross Medical Center in New Lenox.
Born May 22, 1935 in Joliet, Marcella was a daughter of the late George and Edith Koch-Kestel. She was raised in Manhattan and graduated valedictorian from Saint Francis Academy in Joliet. On April 27, 1957 Marcella married Edward Keigher in Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Manhattan. She was a member of Saint Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington and will be remembered for her enjoyment of playing the organ in years past, flowers and nature. Marcella was also a great fan of the Chicago Bulls.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years Edward; four daughters and sons-in-law: Sharon (Robert) Vergo of Joliet, Janet (Keith) Mahlfeldt of Morris, Kathy (Dennis) Blacklock of Joliet and Joanne (Brian) Steed of Morris; (8) grandchildren: Patricia (Jose) Olvera of California, Daniel Vergo (fiancé Julie Kruck) of Mokena, Kathryn Vergo of Chicago, Julie Mahlfeldt of Morris, Matthew Blacklock of Lisle, Lauren Blacklock of Joliet and Sarah Steed and Kate Steed, both of Morris; two great grandchildren: Keegan and Jackson Olvera; brother Bernard (Sheila) Kestel of Naperville; sister Lucille Flynn of Villa Park; brothers and sisters-in-law: Frank Phillips of Gardner, Jim (Mary) Keigher of Gilman, Judy (Dan) Robbins of Wilmington and David (Ann) Keigher of Bourbonnais, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as her dear caregiver Alexandra Horodyska.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Fred and Richard Kestel.
Visitation and video tribute will be held on Wednesday April 2, 2014 between the hours of 3:00PM and 8:00PM at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Funeral services will follow Thursday morning April 3 rd at 10:00AM in Saint Rose Catholic Church, 604 South Kankakee Street in Wilmington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Steve Bondi officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Wilmington. Pallbearers will be: Daniel Vergo, Matthew Blacklock, Robert Vergo, Keith Mahlfeldt, Dennis Blacklock and Brian Steed.
