Madeline Griffith
Age 86 of Morris, passed away Wednesday morning, March 22, 2017 at Park Pointe Healthcare & Rehabilitation in Morris.
Born May 3, 1930 in Big Mound Township, Illinois, Mary Madeline was a daughter of the late George and Etta P. (Kingston) Isaacs. She was raised in McLeansboro, and on October 30, 1947, Madeline married Robert J. Griffith in Morganfield, Kentucky. She worked for the Grocer's Retail Union, retiring after 28 years of service. Madeline loved her church, and was an active and involved member of the First Baptist Church of Morris. She will be remembered for her love of people, as well as gardening and flowers. Madeline cherished her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Robert; three children: Mike (Pam) Griffith of Ocala, Florida and Bobbi (Harry) Harrington and Becky (Steve) Grieff, both of Morris; six grandchildren: Derek Harrington of Chicago, Adam (Jenny) Harrington of Coal City, Leah (Gary) Vaughn and Sara Grieff, both of Morris, Marta Peterson of Ocala, Florida and Monica (Roman) Hudon of Winnipeg, Canada, and eight great grandchildren: Kayla Harrington, Paige Downing, Lindsey Downing, Addison Harrington, Tori Harrington, Jake Hudon, Easton Hudon and Dillon Hudon.
Madeline was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church of Morris, 1650 West Illinois Route 6 in Morris on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral service 11:00 a.m. Pastor Steve Larson will officiate, and burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Morris.
Pallbearers will be: Harry Harrington, Derek Harrington, Adam Harrington, Steve Grieff, Gary Vaughn and Roman Hudon.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Madeline’s memory to the First Baptist Church of Morris or to American Cancer Society.
The family wishes to extend special appreciation to the caregivers and staff on the "D" Wing at Park Pointe Healthcare & Rehabilitation, as well as to Joliet Area Community Hospice for the service, care and love they extended to their wife, mom and grandma.
