Age 86 of Coal City, passed away Monday September 02, 2013 at Morris Hospital.

Born April 7, 1927 in Monmouth, Illinois, Mack was a son of the late W. Fain and Ruby Louise Epperson-McMillin. He was raised and educated in Coal City, graduated with the class of 1945, and went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Army. On November 16, 1947 Mack married Bertha Marketti in St. Peters Lutheran Church in Coal City. He began his career as a printer for Bailey Printing prior to moving to Chicago, where he worked for Commerce Clearing House. Mack later gained employment with Caterpillar Tractor Company, from where he retired as a factory accountant in 1986. Mack was a member of the Coal City United Methodist Church where he served on the Pastor Parish Committee; was a lifetime member of Braidwood Lodge #704 A.F. & A.M. and the Bloomington Consistory, and also belonged to the Braidwood American Legion Post #39. Mack served as Finance Commissioner for the Village of Coal City from 1991 to 1995. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed playing golf. Mack will be remembered for his love of traveling to Las Vegas and Door County, Wisconsin.

Survivors include his wife Bertha McMillin; two daughters: Kristine (Fred) Davidson of Coal City and Karen McMillin (Emily Gage) of Oak Park; five grandchildren: Valerie (Tom) Berger of Racine, Wisconsin, Amy (Dave) Fowler of Romeoville, Ann (David) Droge of Russellville, Kentucky, Patty (Dan) Rodwick of Maple Park, and Paul McMillin Gage of Oak Park; nine great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, as well as, special friends and classmates: Marvin Kessler, Bob Newberry, and Jessica.

Mack was preceded in death by his parents: W. Fain and Ruby McMillin; infant son Paul Harold, and twin brother Jack (Margaret) McMillin.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will take place on Friday September 06, 2013 in Coal City United Methodist Church, 6805 East McArdle Road, Coal City at 5:00PM. Reverend Dr. Thomas Logsdon and Reverend Emily Gage will officiate.

A private family inurnment will follow in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery at a later date.

Preferred Memorials may be made as gifts Mack's memory to the Coal City United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, the Coal City Unit #1 Foundation, or to a charity of the donor's choosing.
