Lynn E. “Mike” Miller, 96, of Morris, passed away Friday, November 10, 2023 at Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet.
Born May 8, 1927 in Hillview, Illinois, he was the son of Lawrence and Ethel (Carter) Miller. He graduated from Morris High School with the class of 1945. Lynn married Norma Jean Stinson on January 12, 1953 in Indiana and they lived all of their married life in Morris. He was a veteran of the U S Navy and served in both WW II and the Korean conflict. For over 70 years he was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 150. In his retirement years he worked for the Grundy Count Sheriff’s Dept.
He is survived by his children, Kay Lynn (Bill, deceased) Moore of Morris, K.J. (Howie) Olson of Seneca and Michael (Marcy) Miller of Ft. Myers, Florida; three grandchildren, Michael Moore, Eric (Lorin) Miller and Elayne Miller; two great grandchildren, Sadie and Emmie Miller; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his loving wife of 70 years, Norma Jean on April 27, 2023; one granddaughter, Katie Moore; one great grandson, Landon Miller; two brothers and four sisters.
He was member of Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 1024, American Legion Post 294 and Masons Cedar Lodge 124 AF & AM.
Mike was an avid golfer, gardener, hunter and enjoyed hunting morels.
Memorials may be given to Lightways Hospice.
Private graveside services will be held in Evergreen Cemetery with military honors provided by the Morris Color Guard.
