Age 77 of Gardner, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday morning, February 14, 2019 at his home.

Born July 19, 1941 on the family farm in Goodfarm Township in Grundy County, Lyle Cornelious was a son of Lloyd Cornelious and Thelma M. (Mortvedt) Johnson. He attended the Goodfarm School and went on to graduate from Gardner South Wilmington High School with the Class of 1959. On February 14, 1962, Lyle married Sandra K. Brown in the Methodist Church in Dwight, and she survives.

Lyle farmed his entire life in Goodfarm Township and also worked part-time when he wasn't farming at R.R. Donnelley in Dwight for more than 20 years. He was currently serving as a Trustee for Goodfarm Township.

In addition to Sandra, Lyle is survived by four children: James Lyle (Tara) Johnson of Solano Beach, California, Donald Lee (Colleen) Johnson of Bellingham, Washington, William Paul Johnson (Angie) of Gardner and Julie Ann (Allen) Dix of Sumner, Washington, several grandchildren, and one sister, Evelyn (Lester) Lydigsen of Dwight.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Haven Johnson and one son, Edward Johnson (2011).

Cremation rites have been accorded.

The family will receive friends for a graveside service at Gardner-Prairie Cemetery in Gardner on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.
