"Gene"

Age 49 of Pontiac and formerly Mesa, Arizona and Russell Springs, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday May 22, 2013.

Born June 5, 1963 in Bloomington, Illinois, Gene was the son of the late Orville Lyle and Sally Mae Greenwell-Boyd. He was raised and educated in Pontiac and on June 1, 1985, Gene married Mary Jane Rexroat in Pontiac. Gene worked as a laborer with PTC Alliance in Fairbury. He was a member of 3 Tree's Church in Russell Springs and attended Livingston County Assembly of God Church in Pontiac. Gene greatly enjoyed camping, fishing, horseback riding and the outdoors. He will also be remembered for his love of coin collecting, yard sales and attending auctions.

Survivors include his loving wife of 27 years Mary Jane; one son Anthony E. Boyd of Morris; two sisters: Michele and Marnie Boyd;two aunts Margie Greenwood of Arizona and Eleanor Shuberts of Gibson City; uncle Raymond (Virginia) Greenwell of Fairbury and several cousins, as well as dear friends: Charles and Margaret Sheffield and Julio and Manuela Ruiz.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Tina in infancy.

Visitation will be held on Saturday May 25, 2013 from 4:00pm until time of funeral service 7:00pm at Freitag-Reeves & Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington, Illinois (815-476-2181). Reverend Tim Priest from Livingston County Assembly of God will officiate.

The family will then receive friends in Kentucky on Friday May 31, 2013 at 3 Tree's Church, 3515 West Highway 80 in Russell Springs from 4:00PM until time of memorial service 7:00PM. Pastor Eric Gilbert will officiate.
