Lucille Darlene Elberts
(nee Ardisone)
Age 77 of Coal City, passed away Friday evening, July 27, 2012 at her home.
Born September 21, 1934 in Joliet, Lucille was a daughter of the late Paul and Margaret Veronda-Ardisone. She was raised and educated in Coal City, graduating from Coal City High School with the Class of 1951. On March 2, 1952, Lucille married Richard D. Elberts in Coal City, where they continued to make their home. She was a very active member of the Coal City United Methodist Church and participated in numerous committees including the Library Committee, Pastor-Parish Relations Committee and the Mission Committee. Lucille was also actively involved in the United Methodist Women, and was a past member of the Grundy County Home Extension.
Lucille will always be remembered in the hearts of her family and friends as a self-sacrificial woman who loved the Lord with all her heart and exuded His compassion to everyone she encountered. Whether by attending to sick friends and neighbors or providing a listening ear to anyone needing it. Lucille was a loyal wife, a loving mother, a perfect grandmother, and a cherished friend to all. She also made it her personal mission to insure no one left the house with an empty stomach.
Lucille is the loving wife of Richard "Dick" Elberts; mother of Rick (Cindy) Elberts of Morris, Ron (Tammy) Elberts of Morris, Rusty (Vicky) Elberts of Diamond and Debbie (Kevin) Vincent of Coal City; grandmother of nine: Liz Elberts, Ryan Elberts, Brad (Renee) Elberts, Lara (Jake) Fleetwood, Amber (Stephen) Linn, Michael Paul (Mary Anne) Elberts, Betsy Lynn (Chad Crater) Elberts, Amy (Aaron) Carr and Stephanie (Chet) Lines; great grandmother of nine: Marvin Cunningham, Gavin Cunningham, Seth Ballard, Alex Stevens, Nathan Elberts, Courtney Elberts, Aubrey Lines, Kinsley Lines and Lynlee Carr; and sister-in-law: Eileen Frye of Wilmington.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Margaret; step-mother: Grace (Helling) Ardisone; father and mother-in-law: Frank and Josephine Elberts; brother: Laverne Ardisone; sister: Betty Ann Ardisone; great-grandson: Derek Elberts; brothers and sisters-in-law: Bill and Mary Elberts, Dorothy and Omer Halpin and Francis Frye, as well as her special aunt: Mary "Mayme" Ardisone.
Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Wednesday August 1, 2012 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City.
Lucille will then lie in state at the Coal City United Methodist Church, 6805 East McArdle Road in Coal City on Thursday August 2nd from 9:00AM until time of funeral service 10:00AM. Reverend Dr. Thomas Logsdon will officiate and burial will follow in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Rick Elberts, Ron Elberts, Rusty Elberts, Kevin Vincent, Brad Elberts and Michael Paul Elberts.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Lucille's memory to The Coal City United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
