Lt. Col. Morgan Franklin Bryan, US Army (Ret.)

Age 74 of Diamond and formerly Mokena, passed away Tuesday July 13, 2010 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.

Born September 6, 1935 in St. Joseph, Missouri, Morgan was the son of the late Martin Otto and Frances Imogene Logsdon-Bryan. He was a graduate of Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati, Ohio; graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelors of Art in History, and furthered his education at Northwestern University in Evanston, where he earned his Masters in Business Administration. On August 28, 1965, Morgan married Judith Ann (nee Crawley) in Fort Custer, Virginia, and she survives. Morgan was a Retired Lieutenant Colonel in with the United States Army and during his tenure served in Vietnam, throughout the European Theater and in the Southern Command. He also attended the General Commanders Staff College prior to retiring in 1988. Currently Morgan was working as a Transportation Specialist and Consultant. He was a founding member of the National Traffic Confectionaries Society (NTCS), former president of Prison Release Ministry and belonged to the A.F.& A.M.

Morgan can be remembered for his great enthusiasm for computers, reading and conversation. He was also a great historian, who truly enjoyed military history and political science.

Survivors include his wife Judy; four children: Michelle Clausen-Zunic of Park Ridge, Martin (Sandy) Bryan of Lindenhurst and Yajaira Bryan and Paul Bryan, both of Diamond; five grandchildren: Tyler Bryan Clausen, Rachel Morgan Clausen, Alexander Vincent Suarez, Michael Morgan Bryan and Sarah Reese Bryan; one sister Pamela (Brian) Kramer and niece and nephew: Gordon Kramer and Morgan Kramer.

Morgan was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother Mary Ann Bryan and one son James Franklin Bryan in infancy.

Visitation will be held on Thursday July 15, 2010 from 5:00PM until time of Remembrances 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. A procession will then leave the funeral home Friday July 16th at 9:30AM to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood for Military Honors at 10:30AM.

Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be: Martin Bryan, Yajaira Bryan, Paul Bryan, Tyler Clausen, Rachel Clausen, Alexander Suarez, William Jennings and Mark Drotts.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Morgan's memory to his family for their distribution.
