Age 80 of Verona, passed away Wednesday October 10, 2007 at Morris Hospital.

Born November 05, 1926 in Minonk, Illinois Louie was a son of the late Thomas and Emma Louis a�" O'Connell. He was raised in the Minonk area and was a graduate of Dana High School with the Class of 1944. On April 15, 1950 Louie married Loisanne Hoskins in St. Anthony Catholic Church in Streator and together they moved to Verona in 1960, where they lived and farmed for the remainder of their married life. Louie was an active and dedicated member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Kinsman, where he served as a former parish council member and taught CCD for many years. He was a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus with Council #1316 in Seneca, former member of the Carpenters Union and was a former board member for the Kinsman Grade School. Louie was devoted to his family, farming and his church.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years Loisanne; six children: Daniel O'Connell of Joliet, Kevin O'Connell of Carterville, Illinois, Connie (Steve) Vaughn of Wales, Wisconsin, Sandy (Emerson) Rapp of Peoria, Kelly (Gerry) Johnson of Seneca and Paul (Kathleen Misovic) O'Connell of Brookfield, Illinois. Thirteen Grandchildren: Jason (Jennifer) O'Connell of Marion, Iowa, Casey O'Connell, Sara O'Connell and Patrick O'Connell all of Carterville, Illinois, Katie Vaughn, Brenna Vaughn, Maggie Vaughn and Colleen Vaughn, all of Wales, Wisconsin, D'Arcy (Eric) Haeusser of Overland Park, Kansas, Emerson "E.R." Rapp, III of Peoria, Adam Johnson and Rachel Johnson, both of Seneca and Andre' Misovic-O'Connell of Brookfield, Illinois. Three great grandchildren: Dalton, Bailey and Kennedy; two brothers: John "Jack" (the late Betty) O'Connell of Pekin, Illinois and Thomas (Delores) O'Connell of Morton, Illinois and two sisters-in-law: Betty (Bill) Ranger and Marian (the late Oliver) Voss, both of Streator, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Louie was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Joseph O'Connell and Francis O'Connell.

Visitation will be held on Friday October 12, 2007 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block East of Illinois Route 47) in Morris. Funeral services will follow on Saturday October 13th at 10:00AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 219 Emmett Street in Kinsman, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend John Hornicak officiating.

Burial will be in Saint Patrick's Cemetery in Ransom and pallbearers will be: Paul O'Connell, Jason O'Connell, Casey O'Connell, E.R. Rapp, Adam Johnson and Eric Haeusser.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Louie's memory to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Kinsman or Joliet Area Community Hospice.
