Lois E. Shelton

Age 82 of Coal City, formerly Joliet, passed away Sunday April 10, 2016 at her home.

Born May 17, 1933 in Joliet, Lois Eleanore was the daughter of John and Hattie Abrams-Fleming. She was raised and educated in Joliet, and moved to Coal City in 1971. Lois was married to Richard Shelton, and was employed by the Campbell House and assisted with Meals on Wheels.  She will be remembered for her love of music and doing crossword puzzles, and for cherishing her grandchildren who were her true joy.

Survivors include her children: Lori (Jim) Parrish and Jodi Tjelle, both of Diamond, and Glen and Jane Shelton of Joliet; seven grandchildren: Amber (Kevin) Galass, Amy (Griffin) Kinnett, Richard W. Shelton, Robin Shelton, Brittney (fiancé Kyle Halliday) Tjelle, Karli (Jared) Otloe and Karla (Caleb) Price; nine great grandchildren: Abby, Tyler, Mateo, Adrian, Octavio, Loisanna, Reese, Kylie and Chase, and two sisters-in- law: Virginia Fleming and Virginia Shelton.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Richard; one son: Steven T. Shelton, and two children in infancy: Christine and Richard.

Per Lois’ wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and burial will take place at a later date in Elmhurst Cemetery.
