Lisa Surprenant

Lisa Diedre Gilmour Surprenant was born January 26, 1954 in Joliet and died July 6, 2012 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Lisa was the youngest child of Paul and Faye Gilmour, formerly of Mazon. She graduated from Bradley Bourbonnais High School and the University of Southern Illinois in Carbondale. Lisa enjoyed a challenging career in architecture and energy efficiency, consulting in more than two dozen countries and traveled the world numerous times. She lived in Thailand, Vietnam and Washington D.C. Lisa completed several marathons in her 40s and took up boxing as a fitness sport in her 50s. She will be forever remembered for her constant kindness and outrageous flamboyance.

Lisa is survived by her son, Eryn Surprenant, daughter-in-law, Sherri Surprenant, granddaughter, Sadie Surprenant, daughter Alena Surprenant, husband, Hans Jansen, sister, Denise Schrum and her family, mother, Faye Gilmour, and many cousins. She was a talented, gutsy, and very loving woman. Her friends and family will miss the laughter and strength that she brought into their lives.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday July 28, 2012 at 11:00AM in Brookside Cemetery, Mazon.
