LeRoy J. Haake

Age 85 of Coal City, passed away July 24, 2013.

Born April 15, 1928 in Coal City, LeRoy was a son of Barbara (nee Planeta) and Fred Haake. He was raised in Coal City, educated in Assumption Catholic School and graduated from Coal City High School with the class of 1946. LeRoy was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City and retired from E.I. DuPont in Seneca with 32 years of employment.

Survivors include two nephews: Lee Collier of Carbon Hill and Tom Collier of Las Vegas, Nevada; five great nieces and nephews: Rob (Terri) Collier of Alabama, Chris (Brenda) Collier and Phillip (Cassie) Collier, both of Coal City, Cathy Collier of Joliet and Jon (Toni) Collier of Hot Springs, Arkansas, as well as numerous great-great nieces and nephews, and great friends Irving and Elsie DeWald of Coal City.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 60 years, Peggy; sister Mary Jane Haake and brother Charles (Betty) Haake.

Visitation and video tribute will be held Monday July 29, 2013 from 9:00AM until 10:00AM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block north of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow at 10:30AM in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 245 South Kankakee Street in Coal City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Robert Noesen officiating.

Burial with full military honors will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, where LeRoy will be laid to rest with his late wife Peggy.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be: Chris Collier, Rob Collier, Phillip Collier, Irving DeWald, Rob Collier, Jr., Ryan Collier, Mark Kuriger and Scott Kuriger.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in LeRoy's memory to a charity of the donor's choosing.
