Leo G. Butler, Sr.
Age 69, formerly of the Wilmington area, died on Tuesday December 27, 2011 at Kent Hospital in Warwick, Rhode Island where he had lived.
Born July 13, 1942 in Wesley Township, Leo was a son of the late Lester and Elsa Warriner-Butler, Sr. He served in the U.S. Navy in the USS Wasp and worked as a truck driver, retiring from Drew Oil Co.
Survivors include his wife Joyce Thornton-Butler; son Leo Butler, Jr. of Sebastian, FL; daughter Cheryl Jirles of Columbus, OH; step-son Eric Marx of Clearwater, FL; two brothers: David (Penny) Butler of McLean, IL and Lester Butler, Jr. of Zion, IL; four sisters: Patricia (Gordon) Heitman of Manhattan, IL, Grayce (Raymond) English of Clifton, IL, Ruth Harris of Hudsonville, MI and Donna (Kurt) Wagner of Columbia, MO and a grandson: Jake Butler of Coventry, RI.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Charles and Harold Butler.
As per Leo's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside services will be held on Saturday March 31, 2012 at 1:00PM in Wesley Cemetery in Ritchie with Bev Dehler officiating.
