Lee A. Wickens
Age 52 of Lisbon, passed away unexpectedly Monday September 20, 2010 at Morris Hospital.
Born July 1, 1958 in Markdale, Ontario, Canada, Lee is a son of Thelma (nee Fisher) and Laverne Wickens. He was raised and educated in Markdale and has worked as a heavy equipment operator since the age of 15. Lee was currently a member and employed by Local 150 Operating Engineers. He belonged to Lisbon Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where he held the position of President of the Council and also taught Sunday School. He had a passion for tractors and enjoyed draft horses and building lawn mowers. The most important facet of Lee's life however was his family and he cherished the time spent with them.
Survivors include his wife Mary "Sissy" Wickens (nee Valentine); six children: Wayne (Chelsea) Wickens of Alberta, Canada, Charlie Wickens of Manteno, Jennifer Wickens of Meaford, Canada, Lucas Wickens and Lena Wickens, both at home and Stephanie (Revell) Sizemore of Morris; eight grandchildren: Alex, Autumn, Jade, William, Alexis, Emma, Hannah and Matthew, his parents: Laverne (Sheila) Wickens and Thelma (Charlie) Loughead, both of Canada; brothers and sister: Russell (Pat) Wickens, Dave (Yvonne) Wickens, Martin Wickens, Barb (Rick) Dawson, John (Cheryl) Mandigo and Dawson (Sam) Wickens, all of Canada; his mother and father-in-law: William and Sible Valentine and brothers and sisters-in-law: Gary (Rosie) Valentine, Daumont (Kelly) Valentine, Mike (Vicki) Valentine, William Valentine, Jr., Jeff (Bonnie) Valentine and Chad Valentine, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Lee was preceded in death by his grandparents and nephew Sean Valentine.
Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Thursday September 23, 2010 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block East of Illinois Route 47) in Morris. Funeral services will follow Friday September 24th at 11:00AM in Lisbon Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 108 East Woodman Street in Lisbon. Pastor Randy Nelson will officiate and a private family interment will be in Lisbon Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Wayne Wickens, Charlie Wickens, Bryan Valentine, Brandon Valentine, Brenton Valentine and Revell Sizemore.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Lee's memory to Lisbon Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 108 East Woodman Street, Newark, Illinois 60541.
