LaVelle Wiborg

Age 74 of Coal City and formerly Gardner, passed away Wednesday April 24, 2013 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Illinois.

Born June 28, 1938 in Morris, LaVelle was a daughter of the late William and Ruth McKnight-Drnec. She was raised and educated in Gardner and was a 1956 graduate of Gardner South Wilmington High School. On December 12, 1959, LaVelle married Roy A. Wiborg in the Lutheran Church in Gardner and he preceded her on January 23, 2003. LaVelle began employment with the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant prior to working with her Husband Roy at Community Disposal Company in Gardner. Together LaVelle and Roy then relocated to Naples, Florida where she became a manager with 7-11, and worked for a stores in both Naples and on Marco Island. Upon returning to Ottawa, Illinois in the mid 1990's LaVelle then took on a position as a teller with The First National Bank in Ottawa, from where she retired. LaVelle had a love for butterflies; greatly enjoyed her dear cat Mindy, and took pleasure in people watching.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law Ann Wiborg and granddaughter Alisen Wiborg, both of Ottawa; sister Susan "Lorraine" Borvansky of Henry, Tennessee and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, including her special cousin Dorothy Brorsen of Gardner, who was like a sister to her.

LaVelle was preceded in death by her parents; son Mark in infancy, son Craig in 1998 and husband Roy in 2003.

The family will receive friends on Friday April 26, 2013 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 203 Liberty Street in downtown Gardner. A private family graveside will follow on Saturday in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
