Larry Wayne Tutor

Age 50 of Wilmington, formerly of Batesville, Mississippi, passed away Friday, July 3, 2015 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.

Born January 28, 1965 in Sardis, Mississippi, Larry is a son of Jerry Otis Tutor of Wilmington and the late Rilla Mae Putman-Tutor. He was raised and educated in Joliet, until relocating to Wilmington, where he continued his education at Wilmington High School.  Larry was a firefighter with the Sardis Fire Department in Mississippi where he earned the nickname, “Hook.” He enjoyed fishing, hunting and four-wheeling, and was a lover of all animals, especially horses.  In high school, Larry enjoyed wrestling and playing baseball. He will always be remembered as an avid Ole Miss Football fan.

Survivors include his father: Jerry (Fran) Tutor of Wilmington; two daughters: Mandy Birkel of Plainfield and Megan (Corey) Mikula of Coal City; one brother: Tommy Tutor of Batesville, Mississippi; two sisters: Christie (Ronnie) Griffin of Sardis, Mississippi and Tiffany Tutor of Wilmington; his paternal grandfather: Delma Tutor of Tunica, Mississippi; former wife and friend: Lisa Tutor of Downers Grove; mother-in-law: Gillian “Nan” Boomgarden of Wilmington, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Larry was preceded in death by his mother: Rilla Aldy; paternal grandmother: Zeta Collazo, and maternal grandparents: W.A. and Anabelle Putman.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Friday July 10, 2015 between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road, in Wilmington.  Funeral services will follow on Saturday July 11, 2015, at 10:00 AM in Christian Faith Center, 1800 South Water Street, Wilmington. Pastor Kurtes Quesinberry will officiate, and burial will follow the services in Wesley Cemetery.
