Larry R. Guest

Age 69 of Coal City, Illinois went to join his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 12, 2023.

Born August 11, 1953 in Kankakee, Illinois, Larry Ronnie was a son of Ronald R. and Emadee (Huber) Guest. He was raised in Reddick; graduated from Reddick High School with the Class of 1971 and went on to attend Nashville Auto Diesel School in Nashville, Tennessee.

On February 18, 1972, Larry married Karen Smith in the Reddick United Methodist Church, and together they made a home and raised two daughters. Larry’s 51 year career entailed working for Jim Smith Auto Dealership; 35 years with Anderson Auto Supply in Coal City and most recently Fisher Auto Supply from where he retired on February 1, 2023.

One who enjoyed the outdoors, Larry throughout the years took pleasure in hunting and fishing, and more recently, bike riding. He was a great NASCAR enthusiast and particular fan of Dale Earnhardt; collected tractors and shot glasses, and could often be found tinkering, whether it be on small engines, or making birdhouses. Larry enjoyed people and spending time with friends. He served as a volunteer and lieutenant on the Coal City Fire Department for 16 years, and was loved by all who knew him. Larry never met a stranger. He upheld an incredible strong work ethic and will be remembered for his pristine nature. Larry relished time spent with family and carefully nourished close relationships with his grandkids. Family was always above all, and his first priority. Revered and cherished my many, Larry will be long remembered and forever missed.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Karen; two daughters and sons-in-law: Samara and Dave Anderson of South Wilmington, Illinois and Amanda and Dave Brown of Coal City; grandchildren: Olivia, Madison, Mya, Abbey, Jenna and Caleb; one brother, Alan (Cindy) Guest of Hudson, Illinois; his mother-in-law, Phyllis Smith of Dwight; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Kevin Loughlin of Chicago, Mike (Cathy) Smith of South Wilmington and Lori (Ron) Trentacosti of Carbondale, Illinois and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
