“Kenny”
Age 68 of Coal City passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
Born October 19, 1946 in Joliet, Kenneth George was a son of the late Robert and Stella (Logan) Huston. He was raised and educated in Coal City, and graduated from Coal City High School with the Class of 1964. On September 7, 1968 Kenny married Wendy K. Frye in Coal City, where they raised their family. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict, and following his military service, Kenny worked as a barber, before gaining employment with Caterpillar in Joliet. Kenny later retired from Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, after working as a security guard for twenty years. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, a “Bud Man”, and enjoyed bowling. Kenny was passionate about the outdoors and being out under the sun. He would often go fishing and watch birds to pass the time, and was known for being a fan of Elvis and Willie Nelson. Kenny was an ardent patriot, and will be remembered as a true family man whose wife, children and grandchildren meant everything to him.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years: Wendy; five children: Sheri (Steve) Fisk, Kenny (Hilary) Huston, Darren (Andrea) Huston, Kelly Olson and Mandy (Joel) Eaton, all of Coal City; grandchildren: Tristen Huston, Logan Huston, Tyler Huston, Connor Huston, Lacie Huston, Kathleen Huston, Samantha Olson, Daniel Olson, Dane Eaton, Landon Eaton, Stella Eaton, Dylan Lovell, Cameron Lovell, Aleczander Lovell, Kylie Gabehart and Jordyn Knop; one great granddaughter Bailey Gabehart; one sister Sharon (Jim) Aldridge; two sisters-in-law: Pam (Brad) Oram and Anita Huston, and one brother-in-law: Robert Frye, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends, including his lifelong friend Jim Votta.
Kenny was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; brother Robert Huston and father and mother-in-law: Bill and Connie Frye.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and a memorial visitation with video tribute will be held on Sunday May 31, 2015 between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block north of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. In spirit of Kenny's love of the Chicago Cubs, attendee's are encouraged to wear their favorite Cub's attire.
Inurnment with full military honors will be held Monday morning, June 1, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. A procession will depart the funeral home in Coal City at 8:30 a.m.
Kenny's memorial service will follow the cemetery services at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Kenny’s memory to his family for distribution to local charities of their choosing.
