Age 80 of Carbon Hill, passed away Friday evening September 13, 2013 at Walnut Grove Village in Morris.

Born September 15, 1932 in Anneta, Kentucky, Kenneth was a son of the late Fount and Blanche Ashley-Decker. He was raised in Coal City and went on to honorably serve in the United States Army. On November 17, 1951, Kenneth married L. Joan Schubach in Decatur. He worked as a mechanic for Kerr Glass Company, from where he retired in 1996 after 38 years of service. Kenneth enjoyed woodworking and will be remembered for his love of showing and working on his 1960 Corvair.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years Joan; three children: Sharon Decker of Carbon Hill, Karen (the late Richard) Woods of Joliet and Dan Decker of Finger, Tennessee; three granddaughters: Hillarey Lynne (Paul) Rendleman of Chicago, Kirby Anne (Travis) McConnaughay of Channahon and Courtney Danniel Decker of Tennessee; four great grandchildren: Liam Richard McConnaughay, Georgia Rose Rendleman, Maddox Aaron Simms and Machenzie Grace Decker, and two sisters: Louise (the late John) Jensen and Linda (Walter) Bradley, both of Carbon Hill.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; one son James Ray in infancy; one granddaughter Dawn Michelle Brackett; one brother Boyd Decker and one sister Joyce Sumner.

A private family visitation was held and green cremation rites followed.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Kenneth's memory to the Humane Society.
