Kelly Kavanaugh
Age 42 of Mazon passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
Born November 9, 1974 in Joliet, Kelly James is a son of Joseph and the late Sharon Leyes-Kavanaugh. He was raised and educated in Wilmington, graduating from Wilmington High School with the Class of 1992. He also achieved an Associate’s Degree from Joliet Junior College. On June 12, 2009, Kelly married Jennifer Nelson in Joliet. In addition to working as a farmer in the area, he was formerly employed by Pro Real Estate in Wilmington and also worked in the insurance industry. Kelly was an avid baseball fan, enjoyed bowling, and playing cards with his friends. He loved to spend time outdoors boating, especially at the Lake of the Ozarks where he frequently vacationed with family and friends. Kelly was a loving husband, devoted father, and loyal friend.
Survivors include his wife: Jennifer Kavanaugh; two children: Aubrie Kavanaugh and DJ Barbush; his father: Joseph Kavanaugh; one sister: Kimberly (Robert) Gramlich of Wilmington; one brother: Kevin (Lisa) Kavanaugh of Mazon; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Kelly was preceded in death by his mother Sharon.
Visitation and video tribute will be Thursday March 9, 2017, at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road, in Wilmington from 3:00 p.m. until the time of Celebration of Life, 7:00 p.m.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the service, and burial will be Saturday March 11, 2017 in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Wilmington.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Kelly’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
