Age 54 of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, November 22, 2015 at her home.

Born September 21, 1961 in Joliet, Katherine was a daughter of the late Karl Leo and Eleanore Constance (Kolakowski) Zilske. She was raised in Minden, Louisiana, before moving to Wilmington, where she later graduated from Wilmington High School. Over the past years, Katie held employment with the Wilmington Police Department, as a dispatcher, and later with Englewood Electric in Romeoville and Rockdale, as a secretary. She married James Rodawold, and was most proud to be a homemaker, who helped on the farm. An active member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, Katie was active in the schools with her kids and also worked in the cafeteria at Bruning School. She loved to walk, play solitaire and watch sporting events. Katie took the most pleasure in her family, and was a dedicated wife and mother, who also cherished her brothers, sisters, in-laws, nieces and nephews. Katie will be remembered as one who always put everyone else first, and was a great friend, many could always rely upon.

Survivors include her husband Jim; three children: Ashley, Andy and Jake; brothers and sisters: Gerard (Sharon) Zilske of St. Louis, Missouri, Mary (William) Gill of Coal City; Carol (Peter) Peterson of Oakland, Arkansas and Thomas (Betty) Zilske of Wilmington; her father and mother-in-law: Louis “Spike” and Marie Rodawold of Wilmington; brothers and sisters-in-law: Scott Stickel, Joe (Esther) Rodawold, Janet (John) Siebert and Rita Rodawold, all of Wilmington, John (Serena) Rodawold of Aurora, Richard (Janice) Rodawold of Joliet and Theresa (Charlie) Bachman of Channahon, and numerous niece, nephews and friends, as well as her beloved grand-dog Ruby.

Katie was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Marguerite “Maggie” Stickel.

Visitation and video tribute will be held at Saint Rose Catholic Church, 604 South Kankakee Street in Wilmington on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow Wednesday, November 25th at 10:00 a.m. in the Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Wilmington.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be: Andy Rodawold, Jake Rodawold, Kyle Stickel, Ben Stickel, Tim Stickel, Billy Gill, Mike Rodawold, Pat Rodawold, Karl Zilske and Adam Zilske.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Katie’s memory to St. Rose Catholic Church, 603 South Main Street, Wilmington, Illinois 60481.
