Kathryn "Kay" Jiskra
Age 79 of Sturgis, Michigan, and formerly of White Pigeon, Michigan, Wadsworth, Ohio and Morris, Illinois, passed away peacefully, Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Sturgis Hospital surrounded by family.
Born December 1, 1937 in Morris, Illinois, Kathryn Marie was a daughter of the late George and Bertha (Arneson) Sterritt. She was a 1955 graduate of Morris Community High School, and on June 1, 1956 Kay married Andrew Jiskra. She was a member of White Pigeon United Methodist Church, and a past member of the First United Methodist Church in Morris. Kay was a homemaker for 36 years, worked as a nursing assistant at Morris Hospital for two years and as an administrative secretary in Chicago for two years. In her free time, Kay enjoyed to crochet and read. She also enjoyed flowers, gardening and birds.
Survivors include six children: Cynthia Reisner (Randall) of Channahon, Illinois, Andrew Jiskra (Sue) of Morrison, Colorado, Edward Jiskra of Sturgis, Michigan, Thomas Jiskra (Dawn Hopwood) and Todd Jiskra (Debbie) both of Battle Creek, Michigan, and Sarah Salyer (Adam) of Sturgis; daughter-in-law Melody Jiskra of Battle Creek, Michigan; nine grandchildren: Kevin Reisner (Jennifer) of Chicago, Bryan Reisner and Michael Reisner, both of Channahon, Illinois, Christine Grecu (Alex), Andrea Black (Jon) of Lafayette, Indiana, Stephanie Jiskra of Morrison, Colorado, Hannah Jiskra of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Cole Salyer and Kathryn Salyer, both of Sturgis, Michigan; four great grandchildren: Johnathon Reisner, Joshua Reisner, Jacob Reisner and Ava Manfila; one sister-in-law Barb Sterritt of Minneapolis, Minnesota and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents; husband Andrew; brothers: James Sterritt and George Sterritt and sister Evelyn (Russell) Likeness.
Visitation and video tribute will be held on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service 11:30 a.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block north of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Reverend Brad Shumaker from Coal City United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery, where Kay will be laid to rest with her husband Andrew.
Pallbearers will be: Randall Reisner, Kevin Reisner, Bryan Reisner, Michael Reisner, Adam Salyer, Cole Salyer and Johnathon Reisner.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Kay's memory to her family for their distribution.
