Kathryn E. Kennedy
Age 100 of Wilmington, passed away Tuesday February 4, 2014 at Piper City Rehabilitation and Living Center.
Born September 5, 1913 in Joliet, Kathryn was a daughter of the late Michael and Barbara Zvonkovich-Benko. She was a member of Saint Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington. Kathryn will be remembered for her strong work ethic, love of cooking and the meals, which she made for the farm hands. She enjoyed attending farm auctions and traveling. Together Kate and her late husband Ed took pleasure in many trips out west, as well as to Wisconsin.
Survivors include two sisters: Anne Ruhnau and Lillian Fortman, both of Elgin and many nieces and nephews.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; husband James Edward in 1994; three brothers: Joseph and Tony Banks and Leonard Benko and four sisters: Mary Jadrick, Rosemary Gretz, Elizabeth Aagesen and Josephine Forshay.
Visitation will be held on Saturday February 8, 2014 at Saint Rose Catholic Church, 603 South Kankakee Street in Wilmington from 10:00AM until time of funeral service 12:00 Noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Steve Bondi officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Wilmington, where Kathryn will be laid to rest with her husband.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Kathryn's memory to Saint Rose Catholic Church.
