"Kay"

Age 77 of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday March 6, 2013.

Born March 13, 1935 in Chicago, Kay was a daughter of the late Nicholas D. and Caroline Lombardi. She was raised and educated in Chicago and attended Mundelein College, where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Education. Kay taught 18 years at Stevens Middle School in Wilmington until her retirement. She was a member of Saint Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington and will be remembered not only for her cooking, but for sharing her recipe's with her grandchildren.

Kay is the mother of Scott (Sandra) Murphy and Michael (Kimberly) Murphy, both of Wilmington and David (Amy) Murphy of Peoria, and grandmother of Kelly, Jennifer, Mary, Kristine, Michelle, Katie, Matthew and Jack.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Thomas Patrick Murphy on November 27, 1999 and daughter Carolyn.

The family will receive friends on Saturday March 9, 2013 from 10:00AM until time of funeral service 11:00AM at Saint Rose Catholic Church, 604 South Kankakee Street in Wilmington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Steve Bondi and Deacon Don Dyer officiating. Inurnment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Wilmington.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Kay's memory to Saint Rose School, 626 South Kankakee Street, Wilmington, Illinois 60481.
