Karen L. Keating, 65, of Morris, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at the Morris Hospital with her family by her side.
Born January 28, 1956 in Morris, she was the daughter of William and (Delphine) Kjellesvik. She graduated from Morris Community High School with the class of 1974. Karen married the love of her life Richard Downey on February 16, 1974 and they lived most of their married life in Morris. He preceded her in death in 1991. Later on she was fortunate enough to find the next love of her life and married Mike Keating on November 16, 2012. She was employed at Tastee Freeze, Honiotes and Walmart where she was known as the “crazy sock lady”. Karen also owned and operated the Mirror Image Tanning Salon in Morris.
She is survived by her loving husband, Mike; her children, Carey Downey and Beth (Ralph) Alvarez both of Morris; step children, Mandy Keating, Shannon (Steve) Mahnke and Michael (Emma) Keating all of Morris; fourteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Jody (Richard) Guske of Princeton and Brenda ( Eric) Leake of Verona; one sister-in-law, Fran Kjellesvik of High Ridge, MO; her mother-in-law, Inza Downey of Morris; several nieces and nephews; her three dogs, Daisy, Layla and Molly.
Preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, William Kjellesvik.
She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family, grandchildren and many friends.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Private graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Evergreen Cemetery with Pastor Patrick Lohse officiating. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
