Karen L. Dziedzic
Age 66 of Coal City, formerly of Chicago and Oak Lawn, passed away Friday February 12, 2016 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
Born July 4, 1949 in Chicago, Karen was a daughter of Annabel (nee Galterio) and the late Eugene Watkins. She was raised in Chicago and graduated high school in 1967. Karen married Thomas “Tommy D” Dziedzic on August 19, 1967 in Chicago. Karen and Tom moved to Oak Lawn, where they lived for several years before moving to Coal City 9 years ago. She worked for several years at the Oak Lawn and Coal City libraries. Karen was a proud member of the Woman’s Auxiliary in Worth as well as Coal City. In her spare time, Karen enjoyed her animals especially her cats and dogs. She also took pleasure in watching cardinals and gardening.
Survivors include her husband Thomas; mother: Annabel Watkins; two children: Tom Dziedzic of Minooka and Kim (Mike) Chesta of Oak Park; one granddaughter: Amanda Dziedzic; brother: Raymond Watkins; sister: Donna (Glenn) Gravril; brother-in-law: Rich (Barb) Dziedzic; sisters-in-law: Carol McDaniel, Valerie (Don) Dumas and Dedra (Guy) Balice; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as her special friends: Roger (Cheryl) Suda.
Karen was preceded in death by her father Eugene Watkins.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and a memorial visitation will be held Saturday February 20, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. until time of memorial service at 12:00 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block north of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City.
Preferred memorials may be made gifts in Karen’s memory to her family for their distribution.
