June D. Tanck
Age 97 of Wilmington, passed away Saturday morning, October 1, 2016 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home in Joliet.
Born July 22, 1919 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, June was a daughter of Fred and Lena (Miller) Tanck. She was a graduate of Kenosha High School and soon thereafter moved to Wilmington. She worked at the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant during World War II, also while attending Joliet Junior College, from where she graduated. June later went on to earn her Masters Degree from the University of Illinois. She retired as the head dietitian from University of Illinois Chicago Hospital, Lutheran General Hospital and St. Luke's Presbyterian Hospital in 1981. June was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Wilmington, and was proud to have independently traveled the world abroad.
Survivors include one nephew and one niece, as well as numerous great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces.
June was preceded in death by her parents; one sister: Evelyn (Dr. Gordon) Richards; one brother: Dr. Delmar Tanck, and two nephews.
Cremation rites have been accorded and June will be privately laid to rest in the family lot at Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in June's memory to Grace Lutheran Church, 907 Luther Drive, Wilmington, Illinois 60481.
