June Pantaleone
Age 81 of Coal City, passed away Sunday September 2, 2012 at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore.
Born May 4, 1931 in Maine Township, Grundy County, June was a daughter of the late Thomas McLuckie, Sr. and Rose Marta-McLuckie. She was raised and educated in the Coal City area; graduated from Coal City High School with the Class of 1949 and earned her degree in Physical Education from University of Illinois in 1953. On October 15, 1955, June married James Pantaleone in Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City. She taught Physical Education in the Coal City School District at both the High School and Intermediate School for many years until her retirement. She was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Grundy County Retired Teachers Association, Good Sam's Camping Club - Atom Sams Chapter and the Coal City Area Club. June enjoyed camping and spending time at the Area Club, and will be remembered for her crafts and pinecone creations.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years: James; two children: James (Sharyl) Pantaleone of Anchorage, Alaska and Carol Pantaleone of Batavia, Illinois; three grandsons: David Pantaleone, Rob Pantaleone and Scott Pantaleone, all of Anchorage; one sister Jessie (the late Kenneth) Nixon of Sarasota, Florida and one sister-in-law Darlene McLuckie of Coal City, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
June was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Thomas McLuckie, Jr. and one nephew Mark McLuckie.
Visitation will be held on Friday September 7, 2012 between the hours of 5:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow Saturday September 8th at 9:30AM in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 245 South Kankakee Street in Coal City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Robert Noesen officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington.
