June B. Cora

Age 86 of Diamond, Illinois passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at the ARC of Dwight.

Born on June 12, 1938, in Allegan County, Michigan, June Barbara was a daughter of Joseph and Anna (Scharf) Levy. She was raised in Chicago and proudly graduated from William Jones Commercial High School with the Class of 1957.

June went on to earn her CNA certification at Joliet Junior College and dedicated many years to her work at St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, retiring in 2003 as a Telemetry Tech.

Affectionately known as "Grammie," June cherished her role as a grandmother, taking great joy in participating in her grandchildren's activities. Her talents as a cook were well known, and she lovingly crafted many crocheted blankets over the years. June was also a gifted artist, enjoying painting and finding delight in music, board games, and working on puzzles during her leisure time.

An avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Bulls, June embraced her later years as a devoted television enthusiast, often found watching music-themed films with a remote control in hand.

June will be fondly remembered for her infectious laughter and her unwavering dedication as a mother and grandmother, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Survivors include her children: Kathie (Doug) Favero of Wilmington, Teri Cora of Naperville, Joe (Lori) Cora of Braceville and Jan (Mark) Keefer of St. Petersburg, Florida; nine grandchildren: Blake Favero, Jordan (Josh) Brainard, Lonnie (Stefanie) Henline, Sean Spillane, Michaela Phillips (Matt Johnson), Alana Phillips, AnnMarie Cora, Katie Keefer and Madison Keefer; eight great grandchildren: Keller, Jaxon, James, Makayla, Makenzie, Connor, Macklan and Merrick, and three nieces.

June was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Cora, whom she married October 15, 1966, and one sister, Joanne (Richard) McElvain.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a private family graveside will be held in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington, where June will be laid to rest with her late husband, John.
