Juanita P. Rea

Age 95 of Morris and formerly of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Regency Care of Morris.

Born July 18, 1920 in Campbellton, Texas, Juanita was a daughter of the late Pablo and Christina (Cantu) Perez. She was raised and educated in Corpus Christi, where she was also a former member of Holy Family Parish, and worked many years as a butcher at both Olson and Kessler Meat Packing and Biel's Grocer. Juanita loved her dogs, and took pleasure in music, gardening and sewing.

Survivors include five children: Teresa (Albert) Sanchez of Corpus Christi, Texas, Angela (Joe) Kostecka of Round Rock, Texas, Joe (Jennifer) Rea of Morris, Illinois, Rose (Brion) Gallagher of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Cleo Sofiklitis of Austin, Texas; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother Daniel Perez of Ohio and one sister-in-law Vickie Perez of Corpus Christi, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joe C. Rea on December 28, 1987; one son John (Kathy) Herrera and eight brothers.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and Juanita will be laid to rest with her husband Joe, in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Juanita's memory to the ASPCA or to a humane society of the donor's choosing.
