Age 84 of Manteno, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday August 29, 2009 at her home.

Born November 13, 1924 in South Wilmington, Josephine was a daughter of the late Peter and Anna Springhetti-Olivetti.

Many years ago, Jo worked as a caregiver at the Soldier Widows Home and on December 1, 1945 she married Calvin Sorensen in St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington. Together Jo and Cal engaged in farming and livestock producing, as well as provided custom trucking and corn shelling for area farmers. Jo was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Wilton Center, Manteno Women's Club, Will County Thresherman's Association and the Moose Lodge. Jo greatly enjoyed playing cards, gardening and most of all, spending time with her family.

Survivors include her loving children: Sandra Spriggs of Kankakee, Bonnie Ruth (Jeff) Monroe of West Chester, OH and Dennis (Mary Ann) Sorensen of Chabanse; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother Peter (Marge) Olivetti of Wilmington; one sister Judy (the late Don) Wesoloski of Kankakee and in-laws: Les Sorensen of Florida, Gene Sorensen of Bourbonnais and Alice Sorensen of Wilmington, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents; husband Calvin in 2002; four infant brothers and two sisters: Margaret Lovell and Marie Ritchie.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday September 2, 2009 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM and Thursday September 3rd from 9:00AM to 9:30AM at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street (two blocks North of Illinois Route 53 / Baltimore Street) in Wilmington.

Funeral services will follow at 10:00AM in St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Wilton Center, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Dan Hoehn and Deacon Milt Leppert officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington, and Jo's six grandchildren will act as pallbearers.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Jo's memory to Breast Cancer Research or to a charity of the donor's choice.
