Josephine Laurice Olson was born November 16th 1925 in Boston, Massachusetts to Middle Eastern immigrants, Sam and Virginia Haboush. She was one of 8 children, 5 sisters and 2 brothers. When Laurice was 13 years old, the family moved to Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from New Utrecht High School in 1944, and studied bookkeeping at Brooklyn College. In 1946 she married Robert F. Olson (deceased-November 2019) and briefly moved to Lisbon, Il. Moving back to Brooklyn multiple times, she finally made Morris her home.
Survived by son, Daniel and wife Peggy & 3 Grandchildren Elizabeth, Mark & Matthew/wife Jen and great granddaughter Lily Belle. Other survivors include nephews, nieces, numerous friends and former Weitz Café customers.
Proud of her great work ethic, she was employed in various places, but ultimately returned to her roots, waiting tables. Agreed by many, she was the finest waitress old Weitz Café ever had.
During the years after her husband passed, Pastor Lohse, selected 4 wonderful ladies from Bethlehem Lutheran Church to help her: Jeannie LeFevers, Carol Day, Lisa Horn and Becky Scamen. Those ladies demonstrated wonderful friendship, compassion and support.
She loved the Lord and knew the only way to the Heavenly Father is through his son Jesus Christ.
As her mother told her many years ago, it’s not always how you begin in life, but it’s the ending that counts! She ended well!
Thanks to Richard Hexdall and his staff for making all the necessary arrangements for a private service at Laurice’s request.
