Joseph Schmidberger, Sr.
"Joe"
Age 56 of Strasburg, Colorado, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday June 30, 2010 at his home. He is the son of the late George and Lucille (Ballun) Schmidberger; is married to Mary Jane (nee Howard), and currently held the position of CEO with HCA Supply Chain Services. Joe worked for HCA for over 25 years. Well respected all over the country, he was recognized as an innovator and subject matter expert in his field. First and foremost in his life was his family. Nothing brought him greater joy than being able to have his family all together. He gave unselfishly and would always lend a hand to those in need. Joe loved sports and particularly enjoyed bowling and hunting. He enjoyed music and could often be heard playing a polka on his accordion around the holidays. He was also a lifelong member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. A devout Catholic, Joe attended Mass every Sunday at Ave Maria Parish in Parker, CO, and served as a lector and Eucharistic minister.
Survivors include his wife: Mary; five children: Shelia Scholes of Strasburg, CO, Troy (Michelle) Scholes of South Wilmington, Cheryl (Jack) Dewey of Dwight, Joe Jr. (Jennifer) Schmidberger of West Harrison, NY, and Tom (Danielle) Schmidberger of Parker, CO; one grandson: Justin Jett; five granddaughters: Samantha Scholes, Alyssa and Katelyn Dewey; Julia Rose Schmidberger, and Paityn Schmidberger, and three sisters: Georgette (Harold) Vota and Mary Jo (Perry) Major, both of Coal City and Lucy (Doug) Cueller of Morris. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 between the hours of 5:00pm and 8:00pm at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street in Wilmington. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 8, at 10:00am in St. Rose Catholic Church, 624 S. Kankakee St. in Wilmington, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington.
Pallbearers will be Joe Schmidberger, Jr., Troy Scholes, Justin Jett, Bill Neese, Jr., Steven Neese, and Bob Born.
